Moab Utah by Dale Wallace

Well here’s the story on our trip from Arizona to Montana. The idea was to drive straight through but we ended up stopping for lunch in a small town called Moab Utah. We soon realized that there were a number of places along the main street where you could rent 4 wheelers, dirt bikes etc. The choice was made to spend the afternoon in Moab, and either head to the hills or white water rafting. A bunch of us decided on heading to the hills on 4 wheelers. Dave and Mike, with mountain bikes in hand, headed out on their self powered peddlers since it was too late in the afternoon to hit the rapids. With our rentals, we had a guide that led the pack up into the desert mountains of Moab. I felt like I was either in an old John Wayne movie, or on the set of the Road Runner. Our guide led us on a 4 hour ride that was quite demanding in spots. We stopped at an arch where we all stopped for a photo op. Then we headed up to the top of a mountain which was close to 1500 feet. I almost barfed looking down over the edge. After another photo break, we started heading back down the mountain. We zipped across the desert sands jumping dunes and stopping for the odd water break. To say the least, it was a cool day off the bus.
